14 best gifts for people who love to sew and quilt!

Do you ever feel stuck at what gifts to buy your sewing friends when birthdays or Christmas comes around. You are not alone. We all have those voices in our head saying it’s just too hard! They have everything already, or they are picky and just any gift won’t do. We hear a million things as to why we can’t buy or make this gift or that gift!

Relax! It’s really not that complicated and those voices in our head are just plain wrong. As a sewer or quilter you know what you like and chances are high that your friends will like the very same things.

The picture above has some of my favorite things that I use every time that I sew. These would all make excellent gifts and there is a range of prices you would pay for each one.

  1. Wool mat
  2. Scissors
  3. Clips
  4. Frixion pen
  5. Yellow chalk marker
  6. Rotary cutter
  7. Soap

Most of those items you would use when you sew, but I will elaborate on a couple. The wool mat is something new I wanted to try because people were saying how great it was to iron on wool. It was great for setting seams, etc. I bought a small one which was very affordable, just to see if I was impressed. Yes, I love it and plan on getting a larger one at some point. I have already bought three more and gave them as gifts. No one was disappointed. They loved them as well.

Next you see a little white thing sitting there. Funny thing is it is soap! You don’t wash with it, but you MARK with it! Yes, I know, right? I use this soap to mark on my fabric anytime I can. It works best with darker fabrics and it won’t give you any issues on coming right out like so many other marking devices can. A sliver of soap, who knew!

A few more things you can purchase are:

  1. Jigsaw puzzles with sewing or quilting themes
  2. Sewing or quilting related jewelry
  3. Sewing or Quilting Magazine
  4. Precuts. Fat quarters, jelly rolls, charm packs, etc.

Finally, gifts you can make your friends that they will love and find useful in the sewing room.

  1. Fabric bins, buckets, or bowls
  2. Pin cushions
  3. Portfolio/sewing planner

These are all easy gifts you can make in a few hours and I know that every friend would find a use for them in their sewing rooms. Who appreciates a handmade gift more than a “maker”? Remember too, that the gift you give marks an event. That event is celebrated through “gift giving” so the fact you wanted to give them one is really more important than the gift!
