My second gift idea this year is the “Pocket Pouch”. The Pocket Pouch tutorial is fast and easy! I really like this gift option because it can be made for either a male or female, young person or older adult. That’s a win, win!
Let’s Get Started:
First, download the Pocket Template by clicking on the link. It’s a little rough looking but next you need to print it off and cut it out. This is the pattern or template.
Now find fabric. It takes two pieces. I like to use a fabric with a pattern on the outside and make the inside a solid color. You can use scraps if they are a little bigger than the template.
Next place your fabrics RST(right sides together) and pin on the template. Cut around the template.
Take the template off and re-pin the fabric together. Sew around the outside using a 1/4″ seam, leaving about two inches at the bottom so it can be turned right side out. Before turning, make diagonal cuts at the corners careful not to cut into seam and a cut in the two corners down to the seam.
Turn right side out carefully pushing the corners to a point. Press and sew around the outside about an 1/8″ closing up the opening.
Now place the snaps on according to the manufacturers directions. Look at photo below for direction on this.
The snap on my “wing” piece above is too low. It should be higher than center for the card to fit and still be able to snap the pocket close. This is why you need to test it first with a card.
Finally, with your bottom flaps together sew around the outside edge.
All finished! These pocket pouches are truly fast and easy. You can make multiples at one time by working in an assembly line fashion!
I would love to see what you create! Share them in the Facebook Group, Quilting Friends of Jerianns Handmade. Also make sure you follow my Facebook page, Jerianns Handmade. We have one more gift idea coming soon so stay tuned!
Always find time to sew,
