The first order of business is to announce the March winner of the “Spring Embroidered Hoop”. Congratulations Morgan! You are the March winner.
This blog is going to be a mishmash of a variety of topics, an Easter project, some great reader ideas I have received and an update on my projects.
Easter Projects
Shabby Fabrics has a great YouTube channel, and I ran across this Easter Project. It is a free download and there is a kit you can purchase from them to make the project even easier, or you can use your own fabrics! The project download includes the directions for fabric carrots and an applique bunny pillow. Both are very cute and simple to make. They are great to use in a table arrangement, in a group, or by themselves. I used the carrots on my “Spring” bench! They go through the whole tutorial on the channel exactly how to make both items if you need extra help. Send me pictures if you decide to make any of them! Also, the “Spring” picture frame in my picture at the top was a free download from, Joyfully Growing. She has some cute freebies and blog.
My Reader’s Ideas
Thank you so much for your comments and ideas that you leave on the blog. Go back and read them because there are some good ones. I just wanted to share a few. Ruth found a cute, quilted project on Pinterest that “scraps” could be used to make, and it would be nice for Spring because it has flowers. I talked about “scraps” in a previous blog, here. Thanks, Ruth!
Kathy suggested a local charity, called “Stitching Sisters” here in the Columbus, Ohio area that she is familiar with. I love the idea that they put together “kits” for you to sew and then return because that makes it easier for us! Stitching Sisters provide quilts to the James Cancer Hospital. You can pick up and drop off the kits at Quilt Beginnings Quilt Shop. I talked about “Charity Sewing” on a previous blog, here. Thanks, Kathy!
Finally, Liz gave us two of her favorite YouTube channels to watch on quilting. Missouri Star Quilts with Jenny Doan and Jordan Fabrics with Donna Jordan. These two ladies are great teachers. I love watching them too! You can read my blog on three of my favorite channels, here. Thanks, Liz!
Project Update
I’m all caught up on my block of the month from “A Quilting Life” blog and my Scrappy Brick House from, “The Fat Quarter Shop”.
There have been more blocks completed on both the jean quilt and Christmas quilt!
No progress was made on the handbag I wanted to make, my “Sew by Row” quilt or the “charity” sewing I wanted to start! I was distracted by a “Pineapple Table Runner” in which the top was completed! (pic)
I talked about time constraints as the weather gets warmer in my blog last week, because of work in the yard and garden, not to mention, hopes of vacations after two years of Covid. I said we needed to sit down and find the time to fit it all in! When I did this, I found my schedule was going to have to change quite a bit and I had less time for certain things. Writing a blog every week takes a lot of my time, not to mention all the “behind the scenes” things that I am still learning! I have decided to cut my blog posts to twice a month for the summer, May through August. That will give me the time for that “extra” outdoor, summer stuff that comes with warmer weather!
Thanks for understanding and I hope to be back to posting every week come September! My new schedule will be posting on Tuesday of the first and third weeks of the month, again, starting in May.
Let me know what you think in the comments and what changes you have made because of the warmer weather and summer coming. I will probably find myself sewing a little less, but come those hot, ninety-degree days, I’ll be sitting at my sewing machine in the air conditioning! I hope you find time to keep on sewing!
