This quote is kind of true for me even though I’m not able to sew everyday! There’s something about sitting at my machine and creating that makes my day better. A quilting and sewing routine makes all the difference!

Basically I want to summarize how the free planning sheets worked for me and a new idea that looks promising for me to implement in February.
Finishes
January was a pretty good sewing month for me. I finished a UFO. Did you get any UFO’s finished? (unfinished objects)
This was a Christmas table runner that just needed quilted…done!
New Projects
Yes. I have a “squirrel” brain and new projects are always catching my eye! I found a “Star” pattern for the “String Block” sew along I’m encouraging you to do this year with me. Check out my previous blog for the details HERE.
I used my 3 1/2″ string blocks to create this cute mini star quilt.
Then out of the blue, Fat Quarter Shop offered a free pattern. It was a “Love” Banner for Valentines Day that I really liked and had to do. However, in my defense I was able to start and finish both of these in January!
Sewing Rhythm
In January I also worked on some of my WIPS.(works in progress) I think I figured out my “sewing rhythm”. There are four weeks in a month and I assigned a project to each week. I worked on my Courthouse Steps blocks in the first week. I knew exactly what I would be sewing when I got a chance to sit and sew. Before I left, I decided what I would do the next time I was able to sew . I wasn’t able to finish them, but the first week in February I will work on them again. The second week I worked on and finished my mini star quilt. The third week I worked on my “Love” banner and the fourth week I finished my UFO. Every time I knew what the next steps would be. I didn’t have to think about it and waste precious sewing time. Give it a try and let me know if you find your “sewing rhythm”.
